Education and Training

This webinar provides information about Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) programs, which help adults in Ontario to improve their reading, writing or math skills. The LBS program serves learners who want to transition to employment, secondary and post-secondary school or apprenticeship. This program benefits learners who may have a range of barriers to learning. If you are not proficient in English or French, learning one or both of these official languages will be important to settling in your new community. In this webinar, you will learn about language training programs available in Ontario and about having your English language assessed, if necessary, to attend one of these programs.

Preparing for work is one of the most important concerns among newcomers to Canada. This webinar will provide information about Ontario’s bridge training programs, which help newcomers prepare for working in their own occupation. These programs include training, skills upgrading, sector-specific job search assistance and employment supports. You will learn about Global Experience Ontario (GEO) that provides free information and assistance to internationally trained newcomers who want to work in non-health occupations and skilled trades.
At the end, there will be a list of available resources that you can seek out if you need assistance.
